PEO Perspective: Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!
Reflecting on 2024, I’m truly amazed at the progress we’ve made. As a PEO, we performed better with more on-time deliveries and achieved demonstrably greater customer satisfaction. We transformed the way we do business to a point where every program is thinking Agile and, for the most part, executing Agile. The change is palpable and significant. It is fitting that we rebranded to capture the new focus on achieving speed, simplicity and excellence in all that we do.
PL INNOVATE
This past year, Mike Chappell and the CIO team launched Product Lead (PL) Innovate to support our program offices by enabling fresh starts and innovative capability, and by adding a product delivery arm across technical domains. Neighborhood Watch, DevSecOps and Army Data Mesh are the first three programs standing up under PL Innovate.
Incidentally, Mike and his deputy Miranda Coleman and several other members of the CIO team are featured in January’s PEO Podcast — look for it on our YouTube channel this month.
DATA-DRIVEN DECISION-MAKING
We are working closely with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Data, Engineering and Software (DASA-DES) to empower users with integrated data they can access, control and analyze to make data-driven decisions. The Army Vantage program and Integrated Personnel and Pay System – Army (IPPS-A) have been trailblazers in this realm, already centralizing data and enabling end users to access it via multiple platforms. Army Vantage has proven so successful we are working to deliver the successor capability called Army Data Platform (ADP) in 2025. Fear not, Vantage will continue to operate until ADP is fully ready to carry the workload!
THE ARMY OF THE FUTURE
This year, the Human Resources team at PEO Enterprise kicked off a full-time internship program to build the next generation of acquisition leaders and innovators at PEO Enterprise. We already have three interns on board and embedded at Project Director (PD) Enterprise Services and Project Manager (PM) Defense Information Business Systems (DIBS), and we’re planning to expand this program in 2025 and beyond to help grow the Army of the future, which is vital to our national defense.
Other MAJOR EVENTS of note include:
- PM Army Training Information Systems (ATIS)’ launch of ATIS Learning, a new and improved enterprise learning management system
- PD Global Combat Support System-Army's completion of phase 3 of its disconnected operations functionality development.
- Army Contract Writing System’s (ACWS) release of the General Fund Enterprise Business System/Contracting Information Technology interface
- PL ArmyIgnitED’s integration of the IPPS-A interface
- PL AESIP Hub transitioned to the Enterprise Business Systems - Convergence (EBS-C) portfolio and began planning to significantly grow its team in fiscal year 2025.
- PD Army Human Resource Systems (AHRS) delivered two software releases for the Deployed Theater Accountability System and three for Installation Support Modules since implementing Agile.
And that’s not all — we’re kicking off 2025 strong with a full program of events in January.
MAHC-III INDUSTRY DAY
The IPPS-A Inc II team hosts a Managing Army's Human Capital - Innovation, Integration and Implementation (MAHC-III) virtual industry day, Jan. 16. MAHC-III is a follow-on procurement to sustain and enhance a PeopleSoft platform, and support IPPS-A’s overall system integration, operations, help desk and development of HR capabilities. You can register here. For more information, visit our Events page.
ADP INDUSTRY DAY
Army Data Platform (ADP) also hosts a virtual industry day, Jan. 16. The event will provide industry participants with the opportunity to receive information, ask questions in real time and increase their understanding of ADP requirements, acquisition strategy and contracting approach. Register here and find ADP draft documents here.
ARMY IT DAY
On Jan. 17, PEO Enterprise will participate in the annual Army IT Day at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner. Mike Chappell and Deputy PEO Brig. Gen. RJ Mikesh are both scheduled to participate on panels. This is one of the signature events of the year, bringing together a number of Army leaders.
AFCEA BELVOIR LUNCHEON FEATURING COL PAUL
Finally, this month, PM IPPS-A Col. Matthew Paul will keynote the first AFCEA Belvoir luncheon of the new year at the Embassy Suites in Springfield, Jan. 29. Look to our social media pages or the AFCEA Belvoir page for more information.
As we look to the year ahead, BG Mikesh and I will ensure that PEO Enterprise is aligned to Army priorities and modernization efforts. We are committed to improving speed, simplicity and product excellence for our customers, continuing to drive efficiency across the PEO and creating a dynamic space for bold innovation. As always, we need your help to get world-class capabilities into the hands of Soldiers, and we look forward to meeting with you!
Wishing everyone a healthy, happy and successful year ahead.
Omnis Miles, Omni Die -- Every Soldier, Every Day.
Bill Hepworth, PEO
